
Deborah Lewis received her undergraduate degree in Legal Studies from Carleton University, where she graduated with high honors. She attended Queen’s University, receiving her LL.B. in 1998. While there, she won the Rueben Wells Leonard Prize. Ms. Lewis then attended the University of Toronto and received her LL.M., focusing her studies on legislation and social policy.
Upon her call to the bar in 2002, she practiced litigation with a quasi-governmental organization, providing service to the disadvantaged segments of the population.
In 2006, she began her practice in plaintiff-side personal injury litigation, where she has gained experience with motor vehicle accident cases, property damage disputes, occupier’s liability disputes, and wrongful dismissal matters.
Ms. Lewis has appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice, the Superior Court of Justice and has attended on administrative matters at the Ontario Financial Services Commission, the Immigration and Refugee Board, and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Tribunal.
Ms. Lewis is a member of the Ontario Trial Lawyers Association and the Advocate’s Society. She is also a published author and a legal instructor of paralegals and law clerks.
